Aboriginal scarred tree salvage and relocation

Arrow Heritage Solutions were recently engaged by Mount Thorley Warkworth Mine to develop and implement a plan for the removal and relocation of three Aboriginal scarred trees located within an approved mining area.  This complex project required careful planning with local Aboriginal stakeholders, arborists and mine personnel to remove the trees safely and carefully.

Heavy equipment and experienced arborists were engaged during the removal of tree MTW-80 (shown here), a very large red gum.  Arrow Heritage and Aboriginal stakeholders monitored the works and applied techniques to ensure no harm came to the scar, such as secure, robust protective wrapping .  The tree was safely manoeuvred onto a specially prepared sled for transport to a temporary keeping place where it was cleaned and treated for potential disease and pest related problems.
